Potential Films

the teamWhat do names like Nas, Juicy J, Baby Cham, Jadakiss, Mya, DJ Premier, Ginuwine, Bobby Valentino, DJ Starting from Scratch, Machine Gun Kelly and Eddie Griffin have in common? They are all among the growing number of celebrities who have been captured by the video and photography lenses of Potential Films – a full film production and editing company based in Toronto.

Founded in 2010 with the slogan “We Film Everything”, Potential Films offers video and photography services for everything from events such as baby and wedding showers, concerts and weddings to business promotions, commercials and music videos. In addition, the company is looking to develop its services to include short films, comedy showcases and documentaries.

Behind the cameras (including a Canon Mark III) and editing equipment (such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro) are Sheldon Shaw, Shawn Harris and John Woo. All hailing from different industry backgrounds (Shawn and John began as DJs while Sheldon went to film school), they have not only launched Potential Films as a one-stop-shop for clients’ media needs but also learned to edit, produce, market and film with a clean aesthetic that lends itself to a professional finish each time.

Consistently creating quality products, determined to work harder than other companies of its sort in the city and showcasing a strong work ethic has allowed Potential Films to immensely expand its client and contact list in just three short years. As such, Sheldon, Shawn and John have gained the support of local and international celebrities including MuchMusic VJs Tyrone “T-RexXx” Edwards and Phoebe Dykstra, Maestro Fresh Wes, comedian Eddie Griffin and more. They have also landed gigs with clients among whom are local Toronto mainstays such as Battle of Sexes (promo video), Body By Chosen (promo video), This Is Your Conscience (promo video), and covered events right across Canada for a range of customers.

With its fresh perspective on capturing memorable moments on film, a budding networking and room for expansion, Potential Films looks to continue to establish itself as Toronto’s premier film company.
